Professionals with specific environmental and industry expertise are appointed as assessors for the Australian Ecolabel Program by the Management Committee of Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) Ltd .

Applicants are appointed after a review of qualifications, previous experience and an interview against a core set of competence criteria.  The current assessor register extends to cover most major city and regional areas with a wide range of industry specific expertise.

An appointment to the assessors register does not entitle you to be a member of the GECA which has a restricted membership.

The Australian Ecolabel Program classifies approved assessors as:

  1. Assessors registered by the GECA as environmental professionals that hold expertise relevant for an assessment and which have undertaken training in the procedures of the Australian Ecolabel Program, or
  2. Environmental auditors accredited  with the Quality Society of Australasia; or
  3. Assessors registered with the Environmental Choice New Zealand Trust.
