Good Environmental Choice Australia Ltd (GECA) delivers Australia's national life cycle based ecolabelling program with a commitment to credible product environmental information for sustainable consumption.  

The organisation is an independent non-profit public company and has it's head office in Canberra, Australia. A key element of our work is the management of the Good Environmental Choice ecolabelling certification scheme established under the guidance of the ISO 14020 series of international standards for a range of consumer and building products on the Australian market.

Our mission is to contribute to the growth of the environmental consumer market in Australia and add commercial value to companies and businesses which deliver products that are environmentally preferable.

The organisation has a wide Australian membership base which support the development of the programs standards, public education programs, industry guidance material and green purchasing activities. Membership is available to individuals, non profit organisations, companies and governments. 

The organisation also has established co-operative partnerships with research institutions, industry and community groups in the  related fields of design for environment, green purchasing, sustainable consumption and life cycle analysis.  

GECA as a non-for profit public company. The company owns the intellectual property, trademarks and the Good Environmental Choice Program and the associated elements of standard setting, program management and licensing and post licensing systems.

Good Environmental Choice Services Pty Ltd is a for profit partial subsidiary of GECA that operates the verification elements of the ecolabelling program and post licensing activities directly related to certified manufacturers.

GECA and GECS work closely to ensure a streamlined and effective service to manufacturers of GEC certified products. users of the standards and in the generation of effective awareness of  market information provided by the Good Environmental Choice Label.

The organisations function on a collaborative basis but maintain a separation in technical and administrative workflows and assurance structures to ensure a separation between standard setting on one hand and verification and certification activities on the other.
