Technology.
FaxMateŽ
is a virtual fax service provided by Betteroff Networks Pty Ltd. Betteroff Networks is an internet service provider located in Brisbane with a wide range of internet and telecommunications services which was established in October 1993.
2. The Products
As part of a commitment to the delivery of high quality on-line services the company has established and commercialized this virtual fax service allowing customers to receive and send normal faxes via e-mail. This service allows both individual and commercial customers to:
1. Totally replace the need for faxes in their businesses and associated business expenses and environmental impacts.
2. Totally replace the requirements for consumables association with faxes including paper, ink, and other peripherals.
3. Reduce the cost of an additional telephone line that is dedicated to their fax.
4. Reduce the physical and material costs of fax storage and archive by integrating these functions into their existing ICT infrastructure.
5. Convert incoming fax documents to a machine readable and searchable format using optical character recognition.
FaxMateŽ
has the same functionality as a normal fax machine providing the ability to both send and receive faxes via email.

addition to energy saving benefits FaxMateŽ service reduces many
other environmental loads associated with conventional fax use
such as consumable materials (paper, ink), and the construction
and disposal of machinery and their various associated
environmental loads. |

FaxMateŽ does not exposure users client to
volatile organic compounds or other emissions arising from
electrical product use due to the remote nature of this service.

3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:
GECA also found the product to
be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour,
Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company
has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to
compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety
regulations and environmental regulations.
