Environmental Requirements |
Core Environmental Performance Characteristics |
|
Fit for Purpose |
Gregory Commercial Furniture
holds an ISO 9001 Quality Assurance system independently assured

The production processes reviewed by GECA confirms that suitable
competency and process controls are in place during manufacture
and that a range of quality assurance measures are employed
during production and prior to final dispatch.

|
Timber and Other Natural
Materials |
Timber used in the Inca, Boxta
and C02 is sourced from sustainably managed plantation and
regrowth hardwood forests in North East NSW where harvesting
operations are controlled and managed by NSW State Government
departments, and Forestry Stewardship Council Certified forests. |
|
Treatment |
Where treatment is applied to the
timber used in these products, the treatment is methyl bromide,
which is classed as non-carcinogenic by the World Health
Organisation. |
|
Air Emissions |
GECA has received emission test
reports showing compliance with this criterion. One timber
supplier has committed to using a PVA glue for their plywood
supplied to Gregory Commercial Furniture, which greatly reduces
the formaldehyde emissions of the finished timber product. |
|
Plastics |
The product range contains many
different plastic components that are more than 100g in weight
in some of the products. Gregory Commercial Furniture has
confirmed that all parts are labelled appropriately. |
|
Padding Material |
Gregory Commercial Furniture
range of chairs contains several different polyurethane padding
components. GECA have reviewed statements from all foam
suppliers, stating that no hazardous chemicals are used in the
foam production, and are satisfied that this criterion is met. |
|
Fabric |
Gregory Commercial Furniture
products under assessment contain a number of textile finishes,
some of which are GECA Certified. As the textile finish is to be
specified by customers, this certification covers the white
furniture products only. |
|
Adhesives |
Gregory Commercial Furniture has
supplied a range of MSDS for different solvent based adhesives
used on their products. Adhesives used in the certified range
are water-based and therefore meet this criterion. |
|
Overall Loads |
Chrome finishes are non compliant to the
requirements of this criterion and these products are unable to
be certified. GECA have reviewed MSDS for production ingredients
and are satisfied that this criterion is met with regards to all
other components. |
|
Prohibited Substances |
GECA have reviewed MSDS for production
ingredients, and inspected the Wetherill Park factory production
line. GECA are satisfied that this criterion is met. |
|
Separability |
A GECA certified assessor has undertaken an
inspection of the products and found that there is no barrier to
separation for recycling. |
|
Product Custodianship |
Gregory Commercial Furniture have established an
End of Life Chair Take Back service during the process of this
verification. GECA reviewed the policy document applicable to
all chairs sold. |
|
Coatings/treatments |
Apart from the aforementioned chromium coating,
there are no coatings or treatments applied to the Gregory
Commercial Furniture chairs that will prevent post consumer
recycling. |
|
Replacement Parts |
Gregory Commercial Furniture provide a minimum 5
year warranty for replacement parts, this satisfies the
requirements of this criterion. |
|
Packaging Requirements |
GECA have reviewed MSDS for the packaging
plastics used by Gregory Commercial Furniture and are satisfied
that no chlorinated or halogenated plastics are used. The
Wetherill Park facility collects and compresses the waste
packaging for recycling by local authorities. |
|
Product Information |
GECA have reviewed sample product
swing tags, which are affixed to all products produced by
Gregory commercial furniture and are satisfied that the
requirements of this criterion are met. |
