Core Environmental Criteria Tested:
Environmental Requirements |
Core Environmental Performance Characteristics |
Fit for Purpose |
The Jardan Australia products are covered by a 10 year domestic workmanship warranty and a 7 year commercial warranty. The production process and quality assurance procedures on site have been assessed as suitable to the delivery of a quality product of this type. |
Timber and Other Natural Materials |
GECA has reviewed forestry certification, Chain of Custody Certification and delivery invoices from timber suppliers confirming sustainable timber is used. Jardan have a standing arrangement that only AFS certified timbers are to be used and independent evidence of this has been made available to GECA. |
Treatment |
GECA have reviewed a statement from the domestic timber supplier, confirming that the timber is not treated with any fungicides or insecticides. |
Air Emissions |
GECA have reviewed test results from CETEC for overall product emission tests. Material emissions results confirmed levels of total Volatile Organic Compound Emissions. |
Padding Material |
GECA have reviewed MSDS for the foam used by Jardan Australia and found it to be a reaction product of toluene diisocyanate. GECA has previously undertaken assessments of this product line and has found it to be compliant with this criterion’s limitations. |
Fabric |
This certification applies to the white furniture only and does not include the fabric that will be subject to the choice of Jardan Australia individual customers. Thus the Jardan furniture is licensed as white furniture. |
Adhesives |
Jardan Australia have switched to using a water-based, solvent free adhesive, which is LGA certified. |
Overall Loads |
GECA have reviewed a statement that Jardan does not use any of the chemicals banned by this criterion in the manufacturing of their products. The site assessment confirms this. |
Chemical Additives |
GECA have reviewed MSDS for all production ingredients, which confirms compliance of the Jardan Australia furniture range with this criterion. |
Prohibited Substances |
GECA have reviewed MSDS for all production ingredients, which confirms compliance of the Jardan Australia furniture range with this criterion. |
Separability |
A GECA certified assessor has undertaken an inspection of the products and found that there is no barrier to separation for recycling. |
Product Custodianship |
Jardan has an established product stewardship policy. GECA have reviewed the “Returns” information supplied with products, which is also available on the Jardan website (http://www.jardan.com.au/environment.html), which states that Jardan accepts returns at the end of product life. |
Coatings/treatments |
There are no coatings or treatments applied to the furniture which will prevent post consumer recycling, therefore Jardan Australia range of furniture subject of this report meets the requirements of this criterion. |
Replacement Parts |
GECA have reviewed the warranty terms for the products under assessment and found that this requirement is met. |
Packaging Requirements |
The packaging used for these products has been found to be in compliance to this criterion. |
